Empowering Communities Through Education, Remembrace & Resilience.

KUMVA & KWIBUKA is a group of Rwandan survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and professional educators. We bring interactive education programs into schools and community organizations to teach lessons humanity must learn from this tragic moment in human history.

Who We Are

Kumva and Kwibuka is a group of Rwandan survivors of the Genocide against the Tutsi and professional educators. We have come together as survivors and educators to run a program with school students, teachers and community organisations.

OUR PROGRAMS

School Program

Our school program brings two genocide survivors and an educator into schools for an engaging, curriculum-linked session. Through interactive conversation and personal testimony, students gain powerful historical insight while learning the vital lessons humanity must carry forward

Corporate Program

Our corporate program delivers a powerful one-hour session that explores global responsibility and ethical leadership. By sharing the lived experiences of genocide survivors, we help organisations build cultural understanding, empathy, and emotional intelligence within their teams.

Community Outreach

Our University Engagement program equips pre-service teachers to confidently teach difficult histories through a trauma-informed and ethical approach. Through guided discussion and practical strategies, future educators develop the skills to foster empathy, critical thinking, and inclusive learning environments.
